With colorful architecture, a small but discernible arts scene, and a laid-back demeanor reminiscent of Key West and New Orleans, this city of 48,000 is a bit more open-minded and offbeat than any other on the Texas Gulf Coast. Gays and lesbians – many from Houston, 50 miles inland – regularly visit here. The historic and charming city of Galveston (is a haven of sandy beaches, opulent Victorian houses, and touristy but engaging seafood restaurants and souvenir shops. Here's a look at these three classic coastal getaways in Texas. And at the southern tip of the Texas coast, scenic South Padre Island has developed increased cachet as a getaway, thanks in part to biannual Splash South Padre Island gay parties. About 220 miles south, the coast's largest city, Corpus Christi, contains a number of notable attractions as well as the coast's only gay bar south of Galveston. Normal people don't treat other people like that, that was cruel.Although America's Gulf Coast doesn't have any major gay beach resorts, the Texas barrier island of Galveston has steadily become a popular destination with GLBT travelers. This was literally the worst experience I've ever had at a bar and I've been to Houston bars where men will grab your butt just bc they're walking by, not only that but the worst day I've had since I was in Jr high. Matt runs inside after she takes the picture and his friend yells at her and says he's gonna call the cops on her. I have never felt so attacked and bullied in my life!!!! When my sister picks me up they're still outside talking about 'the worst kind of people' and I tell her that's the guy that has been rude to me and she tried to take his picture bc she's pissed that he made me cry. Well I suppose that other bartender told him I asked for his name bc him and his friend both come outside and talk about the type of customers that they can't stand. Matt comes out while I'm on the phone with my sister to listen to what I say!!!!! After that I was thinking how can someone be so rude and such a bully to one person so I went in and asked the other bartender what his name was. So while I'm telling my sister what he said to me I start crying. THEN he tells me there is a bar outside if I want to drink more.Like I said it's a lotI go outside (did not get another drink) and call my sister to pick me up bc I honestly felt so attacked and targeted by him.

and I was almost at the point of pulling out my prescription bottle and showing him (which is horrible that an employee where I was being served made me feel like I had to prove myself) and I tell him that was my anti depressant (the fact that I had to disclose what prescription medicine I was taking to this employee is embarrassing) then he continues with his whole "I'm not allowed" "I can't" while there is literally a wasted guy hugging me and telling me he loves my hair. Matt tells me that I can't drink on medicine anyway. A pill out of a prescription bottle so I say that's my medication. I told Matt I've had 3 fireball shots and I'm not drunk (3 fireball shots within or over an hour and a half) then Matt tells me I saw you taking pills. I go up and Matt is completely ignoring me bc he's talking to his friend in the corner so I'm like hey! He finally comes over and I apologize and say I'm sorry I'm not very good in social situations then Matt says "I can tell" and I assume he's joking with me but then tells me I'm drunk. Then my alarm went off for my medication so of course I take my medication (which I am able to drink while taking). I had the worst experience I've ever had, not even at a bar! Literally anywhere! This is a lot and I'll never go back bc of this bartender, everything else was very fun but if Matt it's working there DO NOT GO! He's white, has blondish hair, maybe blue eyes, and a very "I hate you" face when he talks to you. When Matt took my first drink order he was off handedly catty and went out of his way to make me feel more uncomfortable than I already was. Let me preface this by saying when you walk in there it feels like a party you're not invited to, and there are a few guys in there that are well past drunk.
